July 19, 2008

On Saturday July 19th, 2008, a group of Holy Trinity parishioners spent the day at the Oasis Homeless Shelter in New Rochelle painting one of the rooms on the women's floor. Participants included Evan Graf, Athena Gregory, Cynthia Herzegovitch, Anastasi Orfanos, Tina Exarhos and Constance Mavrovitis. A Holy Trinity parishioner donated the paint, and painting supplies were purchased and donated by the team. The team worked long and hard on a very hot and humid day.

The building is old and is in need of much repair.  More painting and other work has to be done at the shelter.  Because the shelter does not have air conditioning, the team and the OASIS Shelter Director (Larry Mosely), agreed to set up another workday in the fall when the weather is cooler.  With summer vacations over, the team hopes to gather a larger work team so more rooms can be painted.
